Update to Subclass 482 Visa Policy: Simpler GTE Requirements Effective from August 2024

The Department of Home Affairs has announced significant changes to the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) policy for Subclass 482, effective 2 August 2024. The updated policy streamlines the GTE assessment process for applicants under the Short-Term Stream. Under the new guidelines, GTE is now considered met unless specific concerns arise, reducing the burden on applicants.

Notably, factors like having a series of temporary visas or extended periods of stay in Australia are no longer counted against GTE compliance. However, the policy emphasizes that listed factors are not exhaustive, and the Department retains discretion in its assessments. Key concerns that may impact GTE compliance include inconsistencies in application information, multiple unsuccessful TSS applications, and prior visa non-compliance.

This policy shit aims to simplify the application process while ensuring that integrity concerns are thoroughly addressed.
