Big Update: Section 48 barred applicants can now apply for skilled visa onshore

The Australian government recently announced that the applicants with S48 bars can now apply for skilled visas onshore. Starting from the 13th of November 2021, people with S48 bars can apply for visa subclass 190/494/491 onshore.

If you ever had your visa rejected or cancelled, you are subjected to Section 48 of the Migration Act, which restricts you from applying for any other visa while onshore in Australia.

The S48 bar has also been exempted for some other visas, including partner visas (subclass 820/801), medical treatment visas, special category visas, and bridging visas.
