RPL stands for Recognition of Prior Learning. It is an assessment or a testing process which is used by the RTO to assess and evaluate a student or a professional’s knowledge, skills and prior experience which a person has gained by learning and working in any particular sector or industry in Australia or overseas. The experience accumulated through work, life experience and other volunteering activities will also be considered. The RTOs can also provide credit to a person against his / her units of competency which can, in turn, shorten the time needed to undertake the qualification.

RPL is an assessment done to gauge your skills, knowledge and relevant experience for migrating into the Australian economy. It allows a student to collect credit scores for formal, non-formal and informal learning. This increases the chance of securing admissions in foreign universities and starting a new life in a new country.
