Guide to Study in Australia

Australia provides numerous opportunities for those dreaming to continue their studies, earn a great degree, or upscale their careers. Going for an MBA, humanities, engineering degree, or an English language course in Australia offers top-quality standard of living, academic guidance, and support to overseas students, making it hard to surpass.

Many students find it highly desirable because of the excellent education, multiple study program options, and chance for employment post-graduation. If you determine to pursue your education in the certified university of Australia, you can choose from a great list of courses offered by multiple universities and institutions and acquire international degrees and learn from top educators worldwide.

Requirements for an Australian Student Visa

The type of visa required will be based on the level of study, the area of study you want to pursue, and time period of the selected program. Regardless of what course you’re studying, which university or institution you’ve applied to, or how much the tuition fee is, as a foreign student, you must attain a student (subclass 500) visa

Starting on July 1, 2016, a student subclass 500 visa allows you to reside and attend school in Australia for the length of your academic program, typically up to five years and corresponding with your enrollment date. To have a comfortable experience, it’s important to make sure your visa is still valid, and you follow the conditions outlined on your student visa. You can find comprehensive information about this visa type on the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs website.

Expenses associated with studying in Australia

The price of education in Australia is determined by the level of qualification and the institution you choose. As an example, the cost of veterinary and medical degrees is significantly higher compared to other degrees. The typical amount of attending a university/institution in Australia falls between AUD 20,000 and AUD 30,000 annually.

Courses in humanities, arts, and education generally have lower prices compared to subjects like medicine and engineering, which tend to be more costly. If you want to go for higher education at a postgraduate-level, the tuition fees are usually higher, with the fees of studying in Australia differing based on the particular program.

Australian Intake Situation

Contrary to Indian universities’ single intake, Australian colleges and universities have two main intakes. In certain colleges, intakes could also be known as a semester. There are two options for enrollment in Australia:

  • The first semester typically commences in late February or early March and concludes in late May or early June.
  • On the other hand, the second semester commences in late July/early August and runs until November.
