Canada Super Visa: New Health Insurance Rules
The Canadian government has eased health insurance rules for Super Visa applicants. The new policy allows candidates to get health insurance from non-Canadian insurers for their Super Visa application.
Before, applicants had to buy health insurance only from Canadian providers. These changes aim to make the Super Visa process simpler, so parents and grandparents can visit and stay with their families in Canada more. The new policy will start on January 28, 2025.
Rules for Non-Canadian Health Insurance Policies
A non-Canadian health insurance policy will be valid for a Super Visa application if it meets these requirements:
Note: Super Visa applicants need to show proof they’ve paid for health insurance to the border services officer when they arrive in Canada.
